Installation Process Experience
On my Virtual Windows Box, I deleted Insel 8.2 via ProgramManager and, then installed Insel 8.3 Alpha successfully. Things to improve for the final version IMHO:
- Right at the start, user is asked if "additional software" shall be installed. In the final version, it should be stated what software (tex, minwg, ...?) the user might install why (to develop custom insel blocks).
- Installation of additional software takes long, so the user should be warned.
- At least message "... trust data base updated ..." during installation of third party software sounds a little bit scary to me.
- I noticed that insel files were copied at some point, went away a minute, and saw nothing on the screen on return telling me the installation was successful or how to proceed. No dialog, and no Start-Up-Icon on Desktop or elsewhere. I had to find the insel executable by myself in a UI directory within the insel core installation directory (I had expected these to be in independent directories for easier updating etc., but that is a different story).
